Here you will find my core ideas about science teaching and the learning outcomes I have achieved and would like to incorporate into my future science lessons!

Ideas About Teaching Science

Inquiry Based Learning Approach

  • Emphasizes the importance of exploration and curiosity within the field of science to students

  • Allows students to have different styled lessons makes science learning more engaging and fun

  • Allows students to develop their scientific research skills, critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills

Water Cycle & Plant Cycle Design Model Creation

Water Cycle and Plant Cycle Experiment

  • Encourages students to gain better understanding of the scientific processes by gathering data and relying on factual evidence rather then relying on assumptions or inferences

Design Models & Thinking Creations

  • Incorporating modelling and creative work into the science curriculum allows students to work with real-world problems with a hands-on creative outlook

  • Allowing students to test their ideas and models, as well as brainstorm possible solutions to a foreign concept, lets students work on their critical thinking and collaboration skills

Learning Outcomes

Collaborate with students and teachers in science learning communities.

  • Having the opportunity to collaboratively work with other future teachers to create an engaging and creative lesson plan and present it to a group of non-education students

  • Allowed me to gain experience in how a science lesson is created, taught, and how elementary aged students respond to new ideas

Feel prepared to engage with real-world, socio-scientific sustainability issues that elementary students care about

  • Having created a lesson plan for elementary school students, and having taken part in other future teachers lesson plan enactments, I feel prepared to engage with a variety of important issues within our environment
