Philosophy of Education

While being an educator is not structured in one particular form, my belief is to always provide an engaging and safe space for my students to learn and grow!

Below, you will find the key principles that make up my teaching philosophy.

Student-Centered Learning

Since all students come from different backgrounds and have diverse learning approaches to the world before starting school, I want to help foster their needs while creating an inclusive environment where the students feel cared for, safe, and valued.

Stress-Free Environment

With the ever-growing awareness of mental health and wellness in mainstream culture, I aim to provide my students with a calming environment where they feel comfortable enough to talk about their emotions and well-being with me or their peers, without judgment. Designating a space in the classroom where students are free to sit and relax or take a break to calm themselves down, is incredibly important to me, as I was an anxious student who didn't necessarily have these outlets to resort to.

Critical Thinking

Personally, I feel that only providing information through a PowerPoint presentation and telling students to reiterate what was done in front of the class, doesn't aid in the connection of concepts to everyday life. By asking thought-provoking questions, and facilitating discussions between peers, it allows the students to think critically and independently.

Collaborative Learning

Creating a sense of community in the classroom helps students in their social aspect of learning, as well as their ethical beliefs. Including teamwork and group projects in the curriculum, promotes collaborative, organizational, and communal skillsets.
